One area in the restaurant sector that has grown in recent years is ‘smokehouse’ restaurants that specialise in slow & low cooked dishes such as smokey meats. One such independent smokehouse restaurant can be found in Cambridge, the aptly-named Smokeworks.

Continuing my day trip in Peterborough I checked out another one of the city’s independent outlets. This time I checked out The Stoneworks Bar, a former betting shop now converted into a small craft beer bar and bottle shop.
Located in Peterborough city centre is The Bumble Inn, a former chemist shop that’s now selling a more enjoyable form of medicine.
Whilst on a day visit in Peterborough I stumbled across When Polly Met Fergie – an independent restaurant that turns out to be vegan but doesn’t make huge boasts about being so.
Always keen on trying out somewhere different from the usual eateries we stumbled across The Taproom, a complementary cafe bar located in St Ives in Cambridgeshire and quite close to the River Great Ouse that flows through the town
Located just on the edge of the city centre, The Cambridge Brew House is not just a pub/restaurant but it also houses its own microbrewery.
