Petrin Tower, Prague
Posted on

Back in 2018 my wife and I visited the Eiffel Tower in Paris as part of our honeymoon, and during our visit there we learned about the many replica monuments and other tower landmarks inspired by the original tower including Blackpool Tower in the UK, and the Las Vegas Eiffel Tower in the USA. Another replica monument is the Petrin Tower in Prague which we first paid a visit to in April 2026.
Up before the tower
On our first visit here to the Petrin Tower we were staying at the Hotel Atos which is not too far away at first. However getting to the tower involves quite an uphill walk. Albeit there are some longer but less intense routes available to take but still. At least by taking this walk you do get to enjoy take in some great views of the city (which get better once you’re up the tower as I’ll explain later) as well as enjoy some of the peaceful surroundings in route, as well as some other interesting monuments.

We’ve made it, up we go
Having conquered the long uphill walk we made it to the Petrin Tower, which like many replicas is not a big as the original Effiel Tower but still quite a sight. Once you’ve queued and paid for your ticket you have a choice of either taking the lift up the tower (which is available for disabled visitors) or you take the stairs up and around the tower. There are two viewing areas, one halfway and one near the top, where visitors can marvel at some stunning, high-up views of Prague including the River Vltava as well as what looks like an abandoned sports stadium.

Up again
We would make another visit to the Petrin Tower in July 2026, this time with our son and we’d take a different route in from the other side of the tower area that didn’t involve much climbing.
The Petrin Tower is certainly worth visiting if you want to witness high up views of Prague as well as enjoy a peaceful walk away from the bustling city streets. Like many attractions it’s often a case of once you’ve done it once you’ll probably won’t go up again for a while, if ever. That said we did enjoy our visits to the Petrin Tower and would happily recommend it to fellow visitors to Prague.
There’s more – next to the Petrin Tower is the Mirror Maze which we visited straight afterwards. You can buy a combined ticket for both the Tower and the Maze if you wish to make a longer stay of it.
